Online Counselling
Counselling for Relationships
Individual online counselling for relationship difficulties — with partners, family, friends or recurring patterns — with Lisa Brathwaite, a BACP-registered counsellor working with adults across the UK.
When relationships become difficult
Relationships are where we are most ourselves — and where things hurt the most when they go wrong. Difficulties can show up as constant arguments, distance and disconnection, feeling unheard, walking on eggshells, or a sense that you keep giving more than you get back.
Sometimes the struggle is with one particular relationship; sometimes it is a pattern that repeats across many. Either way, the impact spills into how you feel about yourself and how you move through daily life.
Signs counselling might help
People often come to me about relationships when they notice:
- •The same arguments happening over and over
- •Feeling unheard, dismissed or not truly known
- •Difficulty trusting, or fear of being let down
- •Struggling to set boundaries or say how you really feel
- •Repeating patterns across different relationships
- •Drifting apart, or feeling alone even when together
- •The after-effects of a breakup, betrayal or family rift
- •Losing your own sense of self within a relationship
How counselling helps with relationships
We learn how to relate from our earliest relationships, and we carry those blueprints into adult life — often without realising. Counselling helps you see your part in the dynamics you find yourself in: what you need, what you fear, and how you respond when those needs go unmet.
Working one-to-one gives you space to think clearly, away from the heat of the situation. We look at communication, boundaries and the patterns that keep repeating, so you can show up in your relationships more freely and on your own terms.
This work can help whether you are trying to repair a relationship, decide whether to stay, recover from one that has ended, or simply understand why the same things keep happening.
My approach
I am a BACP-registered counsellor with an integrative approach — Person-Centred therapy, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Psychodynamic ideas. Transactional Analysis in particular offers a clear, practical way of understanding what happens between people and why certain dynamics repeat.
I work with you as an individual, focusing on your experience and your choices. The space is warm, confidential and non-judgmental — there is no taking sides, just understanding.
What to expect from your first session
Your first session is a gentle introduction. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, and I will ask some questions to understand what is bringing you to counselling. We will cover how sessions work and confidentiality.
Beforehand, you can book a free 20-minute consultation to ask questions and see how it feels to talk. Sessions are £40 per hour, delivered online by video.
